ErmineThe Ermine is a very highly skilled predator, but is only 24-29cm long. To kill, an ermine accurately bites the back of the preys neck with power. An ermines main food source is from rodents and rabbits, although ermines eat other mammals too including birds, fish and eggs. An ermine grows a pure white coat in Winter with just a single black tip on the tail. Their fur is much darker in colour for the Summer. A Lynx can be identified by their short tail or their tufted ears and cheeks. The colour of their coats varies between colours and amount of spots. Lynx are nocturnal and stalk their prey low on the ground and wait for it in low vegetation. The main prey for the Lynx are hares, young deers and rodents, as well as grouse and birds living on the ground. Marten
Martens have a distinctive bushy tail and they spend a lot of their time in trees hunting for squirrels as their prey. Martens also hunt small animals and insects on the ground as well as feeding on nuts and fruit. Martens shelter in hollow trees and they produce yearly litter most commonly in April, having 2 to 4 young. For more information, see the link below. http://www.mbgnet.net/sets/taiga/animals/
WolverineWolverines have a very heavy build making them extremely strong and capable of killing those larger than themselves. Wolverines have a body length of between 65 and 87 centimetres. The majority of their diet relies on mammals, however they can also feed on berries. Once wolverines reach approximately 4 years old they become sexually mature. Every male wolverine holds onto a large territory with about 3 or 4 female wolverines and they mate in the Summer. For more information, see the link below. http://www.mbgnet.net/sets/taiga/animals/
Hawk OwlThe Hawk Owl can be easily identified by their tail, that is longer than majority of owls. Their pale face with a black outline is also unusual for an owl. Hawk Owls wings are short and pointy. They watch their prey when sitting up in a tree, then fly down after their prey. Hawk Owls feed mostly on mice, squirrels, lemmings and other smaller mammals. Sometimes they eat birds and other insects as well. For more information, see the following link. http://www.mbgnet.net/sets/taiga/animals/
