The Taiga is located between 50 degrees latitude North of the Arctic Circle. Oak trees exist mostly at lower elevation. Conifers grow at a much faster rate than conifers, as well as requiring more water than an oak and surviving the cold temperatures better. Because of this, conifers are suited more to higher elevations and oak trees are more comfortable at lower elevations. The Taiga biome is located from an elevation of approximately 3,000 feet. The average annual rainfall in the taiga is 30-84cm, with most of it in the Summer. |
